Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Friday

Court 5 at 10am trial of motorist, Octavian Cadar accused of killing the daughter of an Ecuadorian politician, 27-year-old psychology graduate Vanessa Sagnay de la Bastida. She was known as Charlotte and died after being struck by a Mercedes on London’s Wandsworth Bridge

Court 10 at 10am Pre-trial review in the case of Summer Betts-Ramsey and three others, who have been charged in connection with an alleged hate crime stabbing of a transgender girl. The victim, 18, was attending a roller skating party with friends when she was attacked by a group and subjected to transphobic slurs, it is alleged. She was stabbed 14 times. Betts- Ramsey denies attempted murder.

Court 10 at 12 noon Pre-trial review in the case of serving prisoner Thomas Kavanagh, Irishman, Liam Byrne and two others. Kavanagh is accused of organising firearms to be dumped and their location leaked to the police in a trade for a reduced sentence.

Court 15 at 11.15am Mention in the case of Joshua McCorquodale accused of murder. Greek tourist, Antonios Antoniadis, 26, was fatally stabbed in a suspected botched robbery after leaving a nightclub in New Cross, London SE

Court 16 at 10am trial of Rashid Ali accused of causing death by dangerous driving. Marketing executive Jack Ryan, 29, was out jogging when he was struck by a Range Rover Sport driven by Rashid Ali, 28, just after 6pm on January 13, 2021.
