CASES OF INTEREST AT THE OLD BAILEY ON MONDAY
Court 1 at 10am Inquest into the death of Sabrina Rizvi, 25,who was fatally shot in the early hours of 20 March 2003 outside Bexleyheath police station in South London. The inquest follows a long fight by the victim’s family to get the death looked into again.
Court 2 at 10am Mention in the case of Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary and another. Choudary is charged with directing a terrorist organisation, being a member of the proscribed organisation Al-Muhajiroun (ALM) and addressing meetings to encourage support for the group.
Court 5 at 10.30am trial in the case of Mark Gordon and Constance Marten charged with manslaughter, concealing the birth of a child and perverting the course of justice. A huge search was sparked when Constance was known to have given birth. The couple went on the run because they did not want the baby to be taken into care. The baby’s body was found in woodland near Brighton.
Court 6 at 10am trial of Michael Ematuwo and three other alleged drug dealers accused of plotting to murder a rival. They were arrested after police decoded conversations on an encrypted military-grade chat room.
Court 7 at 10am trial of Denzel Kwateng and seven others in relation to the murder of 17-year-old Denardo Samuels-Brooks, who was stabbed to death in Streatham, South London.
Court 8 at 10am trial in the case of Enriko Spadiu and others accused of murder. Kai McGinley,24, was shot dead in Erith, Kent.
Court 9 at 10am trial in the case of Tarnjeet Multani, an alleged drunk driver who is said to have hit and killed a man after driving almost three times the speed limit after a whiskey binge. He allegedly collided with Kishore Kumar Gill, 59, in Ealing, west London, on 15 February 2022. Mr Multani was allegedly driving at least 60mph, the court heard.
Court 9 at 10.30am trial of of Adele Okojie Aidonojie, who is alleged to have killed two passengers in her Mini Cooper after it rolled over. A third passenger was injured in the accident. Both Mary Macharia, 23, and Rida Boutjettif, 24, died in the crash in Battersea, South West London
Court 10 at 10am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Adejuwon Oyekan accused of murder. Jason Thompson, 54, from Hayes, was found with a stab wound to his neck.
Court 12 at 10am trial of Tyrese Barnett and seven others in relation to the murder of Tyler McDermott, 17, who died in hospital in Tottenham, North London from a gunshot wound to his head.
Court 16 at 10am trial in the case of Asad Sharif and seven others in relation to the murder of 18-year-old Abubakkar ‘Junior’ Jah in East London in 2021. The victim was shot and stabbed.
