Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Thursday

Court 5 at 10am Mention in the case of Gabriel Charles,19, and four other youths who cannot be named as they are aged under 18, accused of murder.  The victim, 20-year-old Jesse Lloyd-Smith, was shot in an alley near his Peckham, London SE home

Court 5 at 11.15am trial of brothers Paul and Matthew Yusuff and their friend Moussa Traore accused of the fatal stabbing of Adrian Kise, 32, outside Waterloo station.

Court 6 Day off in trial of Dzhamilya Timaeva, 19, who gained a place at an Islamic Sunday school in order to teach her “extremist” beliefs to young children, the court heard. She saw it as a “duty” of her Islamic faith to “wage war against non-believers”, it is alleged.

Court 7 at 10.15am trial of three suspected Russian spies. Bulgarian nationals, Ivan Stoyanov, Vanya Gaberova and Katrin Ivanova were arrested under the Official Secrets Act and are said to have been working for a Russian agent.

Court 8 at 10.30am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Kamar Williams, 33, accused of murder. Williams had recently broken up with his girlfriend when he allegedly stabbed her father with a Rambo knife. The victim, Derek Thomas, 53, was walking near Stoke Newington Common in Hackney, north-east London, when a man got out of a van and approached him.

Court 9 at 10am trial of hospital worker Benjamin Aninakwa and an NHS trust who have both denied causing the death of a 22-year-old mental health patient after she allegedly gained access to items used in 18 earlier attempts to take her own life. Alice Figueiredo died at Goodmayes Hospital, north-east London, in 2015.

Court 10 at 10am trial of of Ben Laing and three others accused of murder. Tyreece Scott,24, was stabbed to death in Hounslow, London NW

Court 12 at 10am trial of Saqib Khan and two others accused in relation to the murder of 26-year-old Anselam Senaj, who was stabbed to death inside a car in East London.

Court 13 at 10am trial of John Budal and two others accused of murder. Michael Patrick Afonso Peixoto, 27, was stabbed to death on 19 December in Croydon, South London in what was described as a “premeditated attack”

Court 15 at 10am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Aklakur Rahman, charged with 15 offences. The offences include the attempted murder of five prison officers, two at HMP Swaleside and three at Belmarsh prison, between September and October 2022.
