Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Monday

Court 3 at 10.30am New trial in the case of Muhammed Ahmed for 19 alleged breaches of notification requirements under the Counter Terrorism Act 2008. He is also charged with two offences of fraud by false representation.

Court 5 at 10am trial of three family members accused of the murder of 10 year old Sara Sharif, whose body was discovered at her home in Woking, Surrey. The child’s father, Urfan Sharif, 42, stepmother, Beinash Batool, 30, and uncle, Faisal Malik, 28, are accused of murder and to causing or allowing the death of a child between December 16 2022 and August 9 2023. The father admitted punishing her for being”naughty” after fleeing to Pakistan. She suffered a catalogue of appalling injuries including broken bones, bites, and iron burns.

Court 6 at 10.30am trial of Dzhamilya Timaeva, 19, who gained a place at an Islamic Sunday school in order to teach her “extremist” beliefs to young children, the court heard. She saw it as a “duty” of her Islamic faith to “wage war against non-believers”, it is alleged.

Court 7 at 10.30am trial of Christopher Wilson accused of murder. The victim, 18-year-old Kacem Mokrane, was stabbed in the stomach in Walthamstow, east London.

Court 8 at 10am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Kamar Williams accused of murder. Williams had recently broken up with his girlfriend when he allegedly stabbed her father with a Rambo knife. The victim, Derek Thomas, 53, was walking near Stoke Newington Common in Hackney, north-east London, when a man got out of a van and approached him.

Court 9 at 9.45am Application in the case of Patrick Ruane ,who was jailed for five years earlier this month after being found guilty of two charges of encouraging terrorism. Ruane belonged to Telegram groups that believed in a large-scale conspiracy theory that Covid-19 and subsequent vaccines were Government fabrications designed for population control.

Court 9 at 10am trial of hospital worker Benjamin Aninakwa and an NHS trust who have both denied causing the death of a 22-year-old mental health patient after she allegedly gained access to items used in 18 earlier attempts to take her own life. Alice Figueiredo died at Goodmayes Hospital, north-east London, in 2015.

Court 10 at 10.30am trial in the case of in the case of Kofi Nyanor and two others accused drugs and conspiracy to commit violence offences.

Court 11 at 10am trial of Tyreece Riggon and another in relation to the murder of Lavaun Witter,22, who was stabbed to death in Croydon, south London

Court 12 at 10am trial of Saqib Khan and others accused in relation to the murder of 26-year-old Anselam Senaj, who was stabbed to death inside a car in East London.

Court 13 at 10am New trial of John Budal and two others accused of murder. Michael Patrick Afonso Peixoto, 27, was stabbed to death on 19 December in Croydon, South London in what was described as a “premeditated attack”

Court 13 at 2pm Sentence in the case of Bruno Kuci and others, who were arrested after cocaine worth 184 million pounds was found at Portsmouth port. This is one of the largest ever seizures in the UK

Court 14 at 10.30am trial of Dajour Jones accused of the murder of 20-year-old Jamie Gilbey, who disappeared. His body was found in South Norwood, South London

Court 15 at 10am Plea and trial preparation in the case of a woman, Habiba Naveed, 34, who is charged with murdering 72 year old Christopher Brown in Lewisham, London SE. Brown died from blunt force trauma.
