Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Friday

Court 1 at 9.30am trial of tram driver Alfred Dorris, he was in control of the tram that crashed at Sandilands, Croydon in November 2016, killing seven people and injuring 51. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of breaking health and safety laws that led to the derailment. It is claimed he had a micro sleep when going three times the speed limit.

Court 2 at 10am trial in the case of Petko Zhutev who was arrested in a police operation that netted up to 184 million pounds worth of cocaine.

Court 3 at 2pm Mention in the case of Maher Maaroufe accused of killing University of London student Sabita Thanwani,19. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as sharp force trauma to the neck.

Court 5 9.30am Mention in the case of Achilleas Costa accused of the murdering his 31 year old girlfriend and her 61 year old father in Wood Green, North London. Fernanda Assis and Joanilson Assis both suffered multiple stab wounds.

Court 6 at 10am trial in the case of Godfrey Madondo and two others accused of murder. Jeremiah Sewell, 19, was stabbed in the neck as he sat in a parked car in Lewisham, London SE.

Court 7 at 10am trial in the case of Ronnie Haydon and others accused of murder. Imran Isat,30, was stabbed to death in Newbury Park, East London

Court 8 Not sitting trial in the case of Leone Davies and others accused of murder. The victim, 31-year-old Mirko Naramcic was stabbed to death.

Court 9 at 10am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Marius Mihai Draghici, 49, who was detained by police in Romania in August. He is alleged to be a people smuggler and it is claimed he is was involved in organising a lorry, in which 38 Vietnamese were found dead in the back.

Court 9 at 10am trial in the case of Muhammad Arslan accused of murder. Muhammad Arslan, 26, is accused of killing Hina Bashir, 21, whose body was found in a suitcase in a ditch in Upminster, Essex. She came from same village as him, in Pakistan.

Court 12 at 10am trial of pensioner John Apelgren,79, accused of murdering a sex worker 48 years ago. Eileen Cotter,22, was found strangled outside a block of garages in Highbury, North London

Court 16 at 10am trial in the case of Amraj Poonia and five others accused over the murder of Mohammed Shah Subhani,27, known as Shah, who was reported missing on May 7, 2019, when he failed to return to his home in Hounslow, west London. His body, which allegedly had shown signs of being tied up and burned was found by chance in woodland.
