Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Thursday

Court 1 at 9.30am Sentence in the case of pensioner Edward Turpin, 90, accused of stabbing his 90 year old, blind wife, Joan. Turpin, a retired butcher, claimed he wanted to “quite her down.”

Court 5 at 10am trial in the case of Jaden McGibbon and another accused of murdering 19-year-old Taylor Cox, who was shot in the head in broad daylight in Islington, North London.

Court 6 at 9.30am Pre-trial review in the case of Met police officer PC Edward Welch accused of causing the death of a child actor and his aunt during a police chase as officers pursued a fleeing driver. PC Welch faces four charges, including two counts of causing death by dangerous driving after Makayah McDermott and Rozanne Cooper were killed in the chase nearly five years-a

Court 6 at 3pm trial in the case of Darren Constant accused of murdering his mother Judy,62, four years ago. The victim died of “blunt force trauma”

Court 7 at 10am Mention in the case of Harley-Dee Thompson accused of the murder of 46-year-old Dariusz Wolosz. A post-mortem examination carried out on gave the cause of death as stab wounds to the groin and chest.

Court 7 at 10.30am trial of Leon Rashid and three other teenagers accused of attempted murder. Police were called to Henry Road, Brixton, South London at 6.15pm on February 23, where they found James Bascoe-Smith,17, suffering from stab injuries.

Court 8 Not sitting trial Romain Lapierre and others, including a youth who was 15 at the time of the offence, accused of murder. The victim, 16-year-old Camron Smith, was stabbed to death in Croydon, South London

Court 9 at 10am trial in the case of Jaden Forde and another accused of murder. The victim, 19-year-old Ahmed Beker was stabbed to death in Paddington Green, West London.

Court 10 at 9.45am Mention in the case of Abass Ahmed accused of the murder of 23-year-old Camilo Palacio in July. The victim was shot in the chest in Wood Green, North London.

Court 10 at 10.30am Mention in the case of Daniel Benitez, 31, who is accused of killing John Davies, 56, who died on 1 April 2019, allegedly from injuries he suffered on 13 May 2016. The victim was the defendant’s ex-partner’s father.

Court 11 at 10am trial in the case Ramela Gordon and another and accused drugs and conspiracy to commit violence offences.

Court 12 at 10am trial in the case of Reuel Briscoe and others accused of attempted murder after a 32 year old man was shot in Hackney, East London.

Court 13 at 10am Hearing in the case of Deekan Vig, who denies murdering his father, 86-year-old Arjan Singh Vig, who was found suffering from a head wound.

Court 15 at 10am trial in the case of Shaddai Smith and another accused of murder.   Renato Geci, 21, was found with fatal stab wounds in Hounslow, London NW on 22 March.

Court 16 at 10am trial of Daryl Bethel and others accused of the murder of a 15 year old schoolboy. Ian Habimana was stabbed in the heart in Woolwich last July as he made his way home from school in what was described as a “revenge attack”
