CASES OF INTEREST AT THE OLD BAILEY ON TUESDAY
Court 2 at 10am trial of Philip Tarver accused of murdering his 86 year old mother with an ornamental sword and then decapitating her at their detached £600,000 Surrey home. He allegedly stored her head in a freezer.
Court 5 at 10am Mention in the case of Altaf Hussain, a prominent Pakistani politician, who has been living in the UK since the early 90’s. He is the founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and is alleged to have carried out a terrorism offence when a speech he made was broadcast to crowds in Pakistan’s capital Karachi. Under the Terrorism Act 2006, the speech published on August 22, 2016 is deemed to have encouraged “the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism”.
Court 5 at 10.15am New trial of Brusthom Ziamani, 24, and Baz Hockton, 26, accused of attempted murder of a prison officer at HMP Whitemore. The officer, Neil Trundle, sustained stab and slash wounds to his head, chest and face. Hocton had allegedly donned a fake suicide vest.
Court 8 at 10.15am trial of Aydin Altun and two other members of his family accused of trying to mow down a police officer after a shooting in Tottenham, North London.
Court 10 at 10am Extradition hearing continues in the case of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. He is wanted in the US for allegedly conspiring with army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to expose military secrets between January and May 2010.
Court 13 at 12.20pm Mention in the case of Jacob Koutouan accused of murder. He is alleged to have stabbed to death 20-year-old Jaden Christie in Stockwell, south London
Court 14 at 9.30am Mention in the case of Elton Sefa, who was extradited from Albania on a murder charge. He is accused of beating to death John Woodward, 47, a builder, whose body was found on a roof in Hatton Garden, central London.
Court 16 at 10am trial of Errol James, 51, and Romello Briggs-Leon, 25, who deny murder. Eraj Seifi, 46, was shot in the head in West London.
