CASES OF INTEREST AT THE OLD BAILEY ON TUESDAY

Court 1 at 10.30am trial of Stephen Whiteley and Ziad Akle, former territory managers for Iraq at energy consultancy Unaoil, along with their co-defendant Paul Bond, former Middle East sales manager at Dutch energy firm SBM. They are accused of bribing officials in Iraq for contracts worth US$800 million to rebuild the country’s oil industry after the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Court 5 at 10.15am Retrial of Henry Long,18, and two 17 year old youths accused of murdering PC Andrew Harper, who was killed after responding to a suspected burglary.  The 28-year-old newlywed died of multiple injuries when he was dragged for over a mile with his ankles trapped in a strap on a car fleeing from a crime scene.

Court 8 at 10am case of six teenagers over the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old student Josiph Beker, who was stabbed outside a KFC in Edgeware Road, central London.

Court 9 at 10.30am Mention in the case of Zahid Younis, 35, who was arrested after the bodies of two women’s were found fused together in a chest freezer in Canning Town, east London, in April last year. He is charged with murdering 38-year-old mother-of-three Mihrican Mustafa and Henriett Szucs, 34.

Court 12 at 10am Sentence of Uran Nabiev accused of killing Jake Kemp, 26, in an alleged hit and run motoring collision in Bexley, Kent.

Court 13 at 2.15pm Plea and trial preparation in the case of Kieran Rifat accused of murder. The body of Ms Kelly Stewart. 41, was found in the grounds of Memorial Community Church, Barking Road, East London on the afternoon of Thursday, March 26

Court 13 at 3pm Mention in the case of Javarn Carter-Fraser, who is accused of murder. Chad Gordon, 27, was shot at close range after he answered his door in Haringey, north London last month.

Court 16 at 10am trial of teenager Carlos Velez, who denies murder. David Martinez-Valencia,26, was repeatedly stabbed in a flat in Leyton, East London.
