Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Wednesday

Court 2 at 10am trial in the case of Roman Lavrynovych and another Ukrainian and a Romanian accused of arson on properties related to Sir Kier Starmer.  A vehicle fire in Kentish Town, north London, a fire at the prime minister’s private home on the same street and a fire at an address that he previously lived in Islington, north London. The court heard a Russian paid them to do it.

Court 3 at 10am Mention in the case of Mahdi Madar accused of murder. Mum, Sophinia Bertrand, who is in her 40’s, was battered to death in her Chelsea, London SW home. Madar is said to have known the victim.

Court 5 at 10am trial in the case of Ercan Akbal and five other Kurds, who  have pleaded not guilty to membership of the proscribed group, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, also known as the PKK, between March 1 2011 and November 27 2024.

Court 6 at 10am trial in the case of Kulvinder Ram accused of attempted murder. A woman aged in her 30s, an eight-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy were all found suffering stab injuries in a house in Dagenham, East London

Court 10 at 10am trial of Alrind Hashani and another accused of murder. Ahmed Jama, 29, was stabbed to death in St. John’s Wood, London NW.

Court 12 at 10.30am trial of Mohammed Alam, who was charged under the Terrorism Act 2006 with distributing or circulating a terrorist publication.

Court 13 at 10am trial of brothers Anthony and Michael Stewart accusesd of murdering a man 41 years ago as he walked home. Anthony Littler, 45, died from ‘catastrophic’ head injuries after he was found in an alleyway near East Finchley Tube station in north London on May 1, 1984.

Court 14 at 10am trial of Jahmal Joseph accused of shooting to death his cousin and injuring his brother following a row at a wake. Jordan Rodney, 30, died after being shot in the eye and his brother Omar Joseph was shot in the head and hand in Hammersmith, West London

Court 15 at 10am trial of alleged Hong Kong spies Chi Leung Wai, 38, and Chung Biu Yuen, 63, who are accused of being involved in surveillance and “hostile” reconnaissance against critics in the UK of the Hong Kong authorities.

Court 16 at 10am trial in the case of Marcus La Croix in relation to the killing of Tanesha Melbourne-Blake,17, who was out with friends when she was shot from a Vauxhall people carrier in Tottenham, North London on 2 April 2018
