Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Friday
Court 5 at 10am trial of three family members accused of the murder of 10 year old Sara Sharif, whose body was discovered at her home in Woking, Surrey. The child’s father, Urfan Sharif, 42, stepmother, Beinash Batool, 30, and uncle, Faisal Malik, 28, are accused of murder and to causing or allowing the death of a child between December 16 2022 and August 9 2023. The father admitted punishing her for being”naughty” after fleeing to Pakistan. She suffered a catalogue of appalling injuries including broken bones, bites, and iron burns.
Court 6 at 12 noon Sentence of Piotr Kucharski, 49, who pleaded guilty to being a member of the feared Russian backed group Wagner. The charge alleged he had “professed to be a member” of the Russian mercenary group and, as he entered pleas at the Old Bailey he said: “Guilty that I was pretending that I was a member of the organisation.”
Court 7 Not sitting trial of Elijah Seriki and two other youths accused of attempted murder after a 23 year old man was stabbed in London Fields, East London.
Court 9 Not sitting trial of hospital worker Benjamin Aninakwa and an NHS trust who have both denied causing the death of a 22-year-old mental health patient after she allegedly gained access to items used in 18 earlier attempts to take her own life. Alice Figueiredo died at Goodmayes Hospital, north-east London, in 2015.
Court 10 Not sitting trial in the case of in the case of Kofi Nyanor and two others accused drugs and conspiracy to commit violence offences.
Court 12 at 12 noon Case management in the case of Renai Belle and two others charged in relation to the murder of father of two Josh McKay, 33, who was stabbed in the neck in Walthamstow, East London
Court 13 at 10.30am trial in the case of Tyrese Osei-Kofi, 24, over the death of Jamel Boyce, who was stabbed outside a Sainsbury’s in Clapham, south London, in October 2016. The victim died six years after the attack from a heart attack and brain damage.
Court 14 at 10am Case management in the case of Javier Rodriguez-McDonald accused of murder. Sebastiaan James-Kraan,20, died in hospital three days after being shot in Templeman Road in Hanwell, Ealing, West London
Court 14 at 10.30am trial of Dajour Jones accused of the murder of 20-year-old Jamie Gilbey, who disappeared. His body was found in South Norwood, South London
Court 15 at 10.30am trial of Melvis Mariano and Abby Lowne in relation to the killing of 19-year-old Kamal Nuur, who was stabbed to death in Islington, North London.
Court 16 at 10am Case management in the case of David Walcott accused of murder. Rijkaard Salu Siafa,22, was stabbed to death in Croydon, South London
