Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Friday

Court 2 at 10am Plea to be taken in the case of Bruno Kuci and another, who were arrested after cocaine worth 184 million pounds was found at Portsmouth port. This is one of the largest ever seizures in the UK.

Court 3 at 10am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Marius Mihai Draghici, 49, who was detained by police in Romania in August. He is alleged to be a people smuggler and it is claimed he is was involved in organising a lorry, in which 38 Vietnamese were found dead in the back.

Court 3 at 10am Mention in the case of lorry driver Caolan Gormley in connection with the death of 39 Vietnamese migrants. The bodies of the Vietnamese nationals were discovered at an industrial estate in Grays shortly after the container arrived on a ferry from Belgium in the early hours of October 23 2019.

Court 4 at 10.30am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Tashan Bailey-Brown accused of attempted murder after 18 year old was stabbed in West Dulwich in London

Court 4 at 2pm Plea and trial preparation in the case of Hamza El Chgar, who is accused, along with 19-year-old Christian Peterkin of stabbing 21-year-old Oman Abdullah to death and the attempted murder of a 20-year-old man. 

Court 6 at 10am Asset confiscation hearing in the case of Gheorghe Nica, who admitted people smuggling following his arrest after 39 Vietnamese nationals died after being found in the back of a lorry in Essex

Court 6 at 10.30am Case management in the case of Lamar Grant and others charged with the murder of 25-year-old Devon Jensen-Wallace and possession of an offensive weapon. The victim was stabbed.

Court 6 at 2pm Mention in the case of Maher Maaroufe accused of killing University of London student Sabita Thanwani,19. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as sharp force trauma to the neck.

 Court 7 at 10am trial in the case of Bulent Bakir and others accused of the murder of 30-year-old Olsi Kuka. The victim, drug dealer was allegedly stabbed to death in a flat in Barnet, north London for his drugs and money.

Court 8 at 10am trial of Joshua Broddle and others in relation to the discovery of two explosive devices in Greys Inn, in the heart of London’s legal quarter

Court 9 at 10am trial in the case of Fadel Dabbous and others accused of attempted murder after a 28 year old man was stabbed in Westminster, central London.

Court 11 at 10am trial in the case of Luke Matthews accused of murder.  Kyle Kelson, 25, was blasted in the head with a shotgun in the early hours of June 19 in North Cheam, Surrey.

Court 12 at 10am Jury deliberating in the trial of Shadab Abdul-Karim and others accused of murder. Kacem Mokrane, 18 was stabbed in the stomach in Mount Pleasant Road, Walthamstow on Thursday, November 16 2017 and died four days later.

Court 14 at 9.30am Mention in the case of Cavan Medlock, who was allegedly armed with a knife when he is claimed to have carried out a racist attack on a firm of lawyers that he blamed for assisting migrants. Medlock allegedly attacked the London offices of Duncan Lewis solicitors, which has been involved in a series of high-profile immigration cases, days after former Home Secretary, Priti Patel, claimed that “activist lawyers” were frustrating the removal of failed asylum seekers. He was said to have been carrying a Nazi and Confederate flag

Court 14 at 10.30am trial in the case of, Suvenca Martis and another, who are charged with murdering Richard Obi, 25, whose body was found by his sister after she received a mystery call and was directed to the scene. The victim’s mother was tied up with duct tape close to the body of her son. Obi had been stabbed nine times.

Court 15 at 10am trial of Siyad Mohamud, 23, and Tariq Monteiro, 21, who allegedly fled the country after 16-year-old Alex Smith was fatally stabbed in 2019 in Camden. The defendants were arrested in Kenya’s capital Nairobi before being brought back to the UK to be charged.

Court 16 at 10am trial of Amraj Poonia and five others accused over the murder of Mohammed Shah Subhani,27, known as Shah, who was reported missing on May 7, 2019, when he failed to return to his home in Hounslow, west London. His body, which allegedly had shown signs of being tied up and burned was found by chance in woodland.

Court 16 at 10.15am Mention in the case of Matthew Yusuff,32, and two others accused of murfder. Adrian Keise32, was stabbed to death in Lambeth, London SE.
