Cases of interest at the Old Bailey on Monday

Court 3 at 10am Jury is expected to retire in the case of Mohammed Saleem accused of terrorist related offences.

Court 5 at 11am trial in the case of wealthy Nigerian politician Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice, their daughter Sonia and London man Obinna Obeta on charges linked to an alleged organ-harvesting plot. They are accused of bringing a 21-year-old man from Nigeria to the UK. Prosecutors claim they planned to have his kidney removed so it could be given to their daughter, Sonia.

Court 6 at 10.30am trial of Erik Feld accused of murder. Ranjith Kankanamalage,53, was found in an East London cemetery with catastrophic head injuries after being attacked with a hammer in the early hours. 

Court 7 at 10.30am trial of issue in the case of Gareth Jackson accused of murdering his 84 year old mother, Lesma Jackson

Court 8 at 10am trial in the case of six youths charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a prohibited weapon. It is alleged a man called Mohamud was shot and died at the scene, in North London on September 21. Two other men, aged in their 20s and 30s, also suffered gunshot injuries and were treated in hospital before being discharged.

Court 9 at 10am sentence of Jermain Myers who admitted manslaughter. The victim, Nicholas Sutin, 55, a homeless man, was stabbed in the neck in Finchley, North London.

Court 10 at 10.30am trial of father of two, Jake Drummond accused of the murder of his girlfriend’s 15 month old son, who died of serious head injuries. Drummond was not the child’s father. The tot also showed signs of long term abuse. The toddler’s mum Louise Lennon denies neglect and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Court 12 at 10am trial of Shadab Abdul-Karim and others accused of murder. Kacem Mokrane, 18 was stabbed in the stomach in Mount Pleasant Road, Walthamstow on Thursday, November 16 2017 and died four days later.

Court 13 at 10am Jury may retire in the trial of financial analyst, Asad Bhatti charged with terrorist offences. He is accused of possessing chemicals, which were found in a storage unit and were capable of producing the explosive substance nitroglycerine. Three remote detonators, including an improvised detonator that contained traces of an explosive substance, were also allegedly found at his Redhill, Surrey home and in the storage unit.

Court 13 at 10.30am Mention in the case of Enriko Spahiu and another accused of murder and attempted murder. McGinley,24, was shot dead in Erith, London SE

Court 13 at 11am Pre-trial review in the case of Siyad Mohamud, 23, and Tariq Monteiro, 21, who allegedly fled the country after 16-year-old Alex Smith was fatally stabbed in 2019 in Camden. The defendants were arrested in Kenya’s capital Nairobi before being brought back to the UK to be charged.

Court 14 at 9.30am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Mohammed Barrie, 36, and Raby Diallo, 25, charged with murdering their two month old daughter Aissatu Barrie on May 19 2020. It is alleged the baby, who was a twin,suffered from four separate episodes of injury at a time when both defendants were responsible for the child’s welfare, including brain damage and a fractured skull.

Court 16 at 10am trial of Quincy French and four others accused of murder. Emmanuel Odunlami, 32, from Romford, East London was stabbed to death while out celebrating his birthday at a restaurant in the City of London. It is alleged he was targeted because of his valuable watch. But the watch turned out to be a fake version of a 300,000 pounds timepiece.
