CASES OF INTEREST AT THE OLD BAILEY ON FRIDAY

Court 2 at 10.30am Sentence in the case of security guard, David Smith, accused of spying for Russia while he worked at the British Embassy in Berlin. He allegedly passed secret information about the Government to a military attache. He faces nine charges under the Official Secrets Act, which he denies.

Court 3 at 10am Mention in the case of far right activist Samuel Melia.

Court 3 at 10.30am Preliminary hearing in the case of Mohamad Al-Bared on suspicion of engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

Court 3 at 11am Preliminary hearing in the case of Daniel Khalife,21, a member of the British army, accused of carrying out a bomb hoax and eliciting information about forces personnel for purposes that could be ‘useful’ to a terrorist.

Court 3 at 2.30pm Plea and trial preparation in the case of Edward Little accused of plotting a terror attack in London’s Hyde Park. Edward Little, 21, allegedly planned to buy a firearm and kill a Christian preacher and others gathered at Speakers’ Corner.

Court 5 at 10am trial in the case of wealthy Nigerian politician Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice, their daughter Sonia and London man Obinna Obeta on charges linked to an alleged organ-harvesting plot. They are accused of bringing a 21-year-old man from Nigeria to the UK. Prosecutors claim they planned to have his kidney removed so it could be given to their daughter, Sonia.

Court 6 at 10am trial in the case of Jarrad Spence-Robinson, 24, also known as O’Field, is accused of killing Seun McMillan on 2 May 2017. Mr McMillan, 23, was attacked in Enfield, north London, as he walked towards his house with friends. He was stabbed once in the chest.

Court 8 at 10am trial in the case of Ali Ceesay, 28, charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a prohibited weapon. It is alleged Mr Ceesay fatally shot Mr Mohamud, who died at the scene, in North London on September 21. Two other men, aged in their 20s and 30s, also suffered gunshot injuries and were treated in hospital before being discharged.

Court 9 at 10am trial of of Serkan Kaygusuz accused of the murder of Norma Girolami, 70, who was reported missing from her 900,000 pounds Highgate, North London home on September 20 2021

Court 10 at 10.30am trial of father of two, Jake Drummond accused of the murder of his girlfriend’s 15 month old son, who died of serious head injuries. Drummond was not the child’s father. The tot also showed signs of long term abuse. The toddler’s mum Louise Lennon denies neglect and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Court 11 at 10am trial of Serj Forster, a former soldier, accused of possessing information useful to a terrorist. He is alleged to have been in possession of publications that included bomb designs and instructions for DIY munitions

Court 12 Not sitting trial of Shadab Abdul-Karim and others accused of murder. Kacem Mokrane, 18 was stabbed in the stomach in Mount Pleasant Road, Walthamstow on Thursday, November 16 2017 and died four days later.

Court 12 at 10.15am Sentence of Deekan Vig accused of battering his father to death with a bottle of Bollinger champagne.

Court 12 at 11.30am Pre inquest hearing into the death of Sabrina Rizvi, 25,who was fatally shot in the early hours of 20 March 2003 outside Bexleyheath police station in South London. The inquest follows a long fight by the victim’s family to get the death looked into again.

Court 13 at 10.30am Ground rules hearing in the case of Leon Davies and others charged with the murder of 31-year-old Mirko Naramcic in Richmond, London SW. The victim was stabbed to death

Court 14 at 9.45am Plea and trial preparation in the case Paul Bryan accused of murdering a 63 year old man almost 40 years ago. Bryan,61, is accused of fatally stabbing Roman Szalajko in Roehampton, south-west London, on 7 February 1984.

Court 16 at 11am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Ross Hamilton accused of murder. Reece Newcombe, 31, who trained celebrities including former footballer Ian Wright for a charity boxing match in 2014, died after he was stabbed with a piece of glass on Richmond Bridge, southwest London.
