CASES OF INTEREST AT THE OLD BAILEY ON MONDAY

Court 1 at 10.30am trial of James Watson, who is charged with murdering six year old Rikki Neave. Rikki’s naked body was in woodland a few minutes from his home in Welland, Peterborough, on November 29 1994. Watson would have been 13 at the time of the killing. He was arrested following a cold case review.

Court 2 at 10.30am New trial in the case of Ali Harbi Ali, 25, accused of the murder of Conservative MP Sir David Amess, who was stabbed to death, while holding a surgery in his Essex constituency.

Court 2 at 4pm sentence of people smuggler Dragos Stefan Damian, 28, who was extradited from Italy to face a UK court following the investigation into the deaths of 39 Vietnamese men, women and children. The victims’ bodies were found in a refrigerated lorry trailer after it was transported by ferry from Zeebrugge to Purfleet in Essex in October 2019.

Court 5 at 10am trial of Syded Haider accused of murdering a 16 month old baby girl, Nusayba Umar in a “fit of temper”. The tot died of head injuries after being aggressively shaken, the court heard.

Court 6 at 9.30am trial in the case of Courtney Ellis and Aaron Youngsman, who are accused in connection with the murder of rapper Craig Small, 32, who was also known by rap name Smallz. He was gunned down in Wembley, London NW in 2019.

Court 7 at 10am trial in the case of Alfie Ferguson and three others teenagers accused of murder. Bubacar Jabbie Dukureh, 17, who was known to his family as Bubacar Jabbie, was attacked in Walthamstow, East London on 23 October 2020.

Court 8 at 10am trial in the case of Demetrios Kyriacou accused of murder. Irmani Allaway-Muir,22, was shot dead in Islington, North London. The court heard it was in revenge for the robbery of a Rolex watch

Court 9 at 9.45am trial in the case of Callum Hands and others accused of murder following the fatal stabbing of Daniel Laskos,16, in Harold Wood, East London.

Court 10 at 9.30am Pre-trial review in the case of Demi Anderson and three others in relation to the murder of Lee Baxter, 34, who was stabbed in an alley in Southdown Crescent, Newbury Park, east London

Court 13 Not sitting trial in the case of pensioner Dennis McGrory,74, accused of the murder and rape of 15 year old Jacqui Montomery, who was sexually assaulted, stabbed and strangled at her home in Islington, north London in 1975. DNA advances led to the defendant’s arrest, the court was told.

Court 16 at 10am trial in the case of Denzel Kwateng and others accused of the murder of 17-year-old Denardo Samuels-Brooks, who was stabbed to death in Streatham, South London.
