CASES OF INTEREST AT THE OLD BAILEY ON THURSDAY

Court 1 at 10.30am trial of Stephen Whiteley and Ziad Akle, former territory managers for Iraq at energy consultancy Unaoil, along with their co-defendant Paul Bond, former Middle East sales manager at Dutch energy firm SBM. They are accused of bribing officials in Iraq for contracts worth US$800 million to rebuild the country’s oil industry after the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Court 5 at 10am Plea and trial preparation in the case of Jonty Bravery alleged to have thrown to have thrown a six year old boy off a 10th floor balcony at the Tate Modern.

Court 8 at 10.30am Retrial of Henry Long,18, and two 17 year old youths accused of murdering PC Andrew Harper, who was killed after responding to a suspected burglary.  The 28-year-old newlywed died of multiple injuries when he was dragged for over a mile with his ankles trapped in a strap on a car fleeing from a crime scene.

Court 8 at 3.30pm Mention in the case of James Watson, who is charged with murdering six year old Rikki Neave. Rikki’s naked body was found in woodland a few minutes from his home in Welland, Peterborough, on November 29 1994. Watson would have been 13 at the time of the killing. He was arrested following a cold case review.

Court 12 at 10am case of six teenagers over the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old student Josiph Beker, who was stabbed outside a KFC in Edgeware Road, central London.

Court 13 at 11am  Professional footballer Benjamin Agyeman-Badu, 21, and Darren John, 22, allegedly attempted to murder Henry Bardi in east London. Former Blackpool FC winger Agyeman-Badu is said to have been in possession of 1922 model Browning self-loading pistol

Court 16 at 10am trial of teenager Carlos Velez, who denies murder. David Martinez-Valencia,26, was repeatedly stabbed in a flat in Leyton, East London.

Court 16 at 2pm Sentence of Zion Chiata and another accused of murder. Gavin Garraway,40, was stabbed to death close to Clapham Common tube station.
