CASES OF INTEREST AT THE OLD BAILEY ON FRIDAY

Court 2 at 10.30am trial continues of Hashem Abedi, who is the younger brother of the Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi,22. He denies multiple charges of murder and terrorism offences. Abedi’s brother detonated a suicide vest as music fans left an Ariana Grande concert, killing 22 people and injuring 260 more.

Court 5 at 10am trial of Obina Ezeoke accused of a double murder. He is alleged to have shot dead Annie Besala Ekofo, 53, and her nephew Bervil Kalikala-Ekofo,21 in East Finchley, London. It was a case of mistaken identity

Court 6 at 10am  trial of Bernard Rebello accused of manslaughter. He allegedly gave Eloise Parry, 21, a bulimic student from Shrewsbury eight slimming tablets containing dinitrophenol (DNP) in 2015. She died as a result.

Court 8 at 2pm Mention in the case of James Watson, who is charged with murdering six year old Rikki Neave. Rikki’s naked body was in woodland a few minutes from his home in Welland, Peterborough, on November 29 1994. Watson would have been 13 at the time of the killing. He was arrested following a cold case review.

Court 9 Not sitting trial of Godwin Lunghy and Anuoluwa Temenu accused of taking part in a series of attacks which saw two men  stabbed to death nearly two years ago. Both 20-year-old Sadiq Mohamed and 18 year old Abdikarim Hassan were killed by the two defendants.

Court 10 at 9.30am Mention in the case of motorist Jack Gough, who allegedly ran over and killed 45-year-old Muriel Sanna, from Nice in France, on July 23 last year in central London.

Court 11 at 9.30am Dean Townsend and four other teenagers accused of murder. h Joao Ricardo Gomes,18, was fatally stabbed on 13 May 2017 in Enfield, North London.

Court 11 at 10am trial continues of Tashan Brewster and three others accused of murder. Bright Akinleye,22, was stabbed multiple times in the lobby of a hotel in North London

Court 12 at 10.30am Father and brother, Paul and Samuel Newey,  of a British volunteer fighting against ISIS in Syria, have appeared in court charged with terrorism offences after allegedly sending him £150.

Court 12 at 11am Plea and case management in the case of Safiyya Shaik charged  with the preparation of terrorist acts and with the intention of committing acts of terrorism. One target was allegedly St Paul’s Cathedral.

Court 15 at 10am trial of Shemar Dawes accused of murder. Lord Promise Nkenda, 17, was walking along a pavement in Newham, east London, on Valentine’s Day 2018 when a BMW accelerated towards him. After being struck by the car he was followed into an alleyway where he was repeatedly stabbed in the head and chest by a number of youths..

Court 16 at 9.30am trial continues of Roger Jenkins and two other senior Barclays Bank executives accused of fraud. They allegedly lied to secure billions of pounds from Qatari investors and averted a taxpayer-funded bailout during the global financial crisis.
